james 1All our Urban Dance Classes are taught by James Page (Soul Patrol.) We sought out James after researching coaches in the South. James stood out as not only an amazing dancer but a really experience teacher. He has worked in many of the local schools and we were delighted when he said yes to running our Urban Dance program.

Street Dance (Tuesday's 4pm – 5pm 6-12yrs)

 Children will have great fun learning the moves they see on TV, with influences from Lockin, Poppin & break dance. Learning routines and developing freestyle ability.

Break Dance  (Tuesday's 5pm – 6pm 8yrs +)

 In Break dance, dancers will be shown and taught all aspects of B-Boying. Foot work, Power and Style will be focus areas in each class. Dancers will learn about battle strategy and the origins of the Breaking. The freestyle element of breaking is hugely import to a breakers overall development. Each session will include time for dancers to discover how they move and push themselves at their own skill level.

 Crew Class (Tuesday's 6pm –7pm All)

River Studio's dance has now created a crew "RUDE" River Urban Dance Experience. If you are looking for a way to use your dance skill and build on what you know, welcome to the way. Alongside our street and break classes RUDE crew will offer young people a chance to draw on their experience and skill to create pieces of dance for performance. This crew format will allow for more creativity and input but high standards will be expected for all members of the group.

Freestyle Events (Last Saturday of each month) 3 – 6pm

This is an opportunity for Dancers from across the area to come together and show what they can do, this is a freestyle opportunity to learn to jam with all types of street & break dancers of varying ability. It is run by James but not in a formal style.

Want to join a class?

 Prices vary in each class from £4 - £8 per class. You are welcome to come and try a class for the one off payment, thereafter the payments are taken in blocks by half terms. (with the exception of Freestyle events)
